Built for laboratories studying muscle cell biology and neuromuscular disease, this Assay Genie ELISA Kit provides quantitative measurement of Dystrophin Associated Glycoprotein 1 (DAG1) in human-derived samples. DAG1 encodes the precursor that is proteolytically processed into α-dystroglycan and β-dystroglycan, the two subunits that form the core of the dystrophin-associated glycoprotein complex (DGC). Together they link extracellular matrix components such as laminin to the intracellular cytoskeleton via dystrophin, and defective glycosylation or expression of dystroglycan underlies a spectrum of muscular dystrophies and has been reported in epithelial cancers and in developing neural tissue.

The kit is intended for research use only and supports work on dystroglycanopathy mechanisms, muscle membrane integrity, and biomarker studies across neuromuscular, oncology, and neuroscience applications. It is also relevant to groups investigating how certain pathogens, including arenaviruses and Mycobacterium leprae, exploit dystroglycan as a cell-surface receptor, as well as researchers studying cell-matrix adhesion, epithelial polarity, and synapse formation.

Each kit contains reagents sufficient for 96 assays supplied in single-use vials. Reconstituted standards and detection antibody are usually aliquoted and stored refrigerated to limit freeze-thaw degradation, and the plate should be kept sealed and protected from light when not in use. Researchers should consult the supplied manual for the standard curve parameters, recommended sample dilutions, and specific assay buffer composition associated with this product.
