Dysferlin (DYSF) is a ~230 kDa transmembrane protein essential for calcium-dependent sarcolemmal repair in skeletal muscle. Loss-of-function mutations in the DYSF gene cause autosomal recessive muscular dystrophies, including limb-girdle muscular dystrophy type 2B (LGMDR2), Miyoshi myopathy, and distal anterior compartment myopathy. Investigators studying these disorders, as well as dysferlin's roles in vesicle fusion, membrane trafficking, and myogenic differentiation, use quantitative protein measurements to track expression in patient biopsies, cultured myotubes, and animal disease models.

This Assay Genie immunoassay kit provides quantitative detection of human dysferlin in tissue homogenates, supporting workflows that probe muscle protein abundance alongside genetic and histological findings. The colorimetric method enables straightforward absorbance-based quantification on standard microplate readers. Each kit supplies reagents for 96 assays in a single-use format configured for routine bench work, with components packaged for direct use in research laboratories studying neuromuscular disease.

Store refrigerated at 4 °C upon arrival and protect from light; aliquot reagents as needed to limit freeze-thaw cycles and preserve activity through the printed expiry. Sample preparation from snap-frozen skeletal muscle should be performed with protease inhibitor cocktails to maintain dysferlin integrity prior to the assay. For research use only; not intended for diagnostic applications.
