Doublecortin (DCX) is a microtubule-associated phosphoprotein expressed by immature, migrating neurons in the developing and adult central nervous system, where it supports microtubule stabilization and neurite extension. Measuring DCX in experimental samples is widely used as a marker of neurogenesis, neuronal maturation, and progenitor cell response after injury, drug treatment, or in neurodegenerative disease models.

This ELISA kit from Assay Genie is supplied as a single-use microplate configured to run 96 assays per plate with a colorimetric readout, intended for the quantitative measurement of human DCX in tissue homogenates and cell lysates. Unopened kit components should be stored refrigerated until first use to preserve antibody and standard activity, with stability maintained through the stated shelf life when handled as directed. The kit ships with pre-coated wells, recombinant standards, detection antibody, substrate solution, wash buffer, and stop solution required to process a full plate of samples and standards in parallel.

DCX is studied extensively in neuroscience and stem cell workflows, including characterization of neural progenitor differentiation, evaluation of hippocampal neurogenesis, and screening of compounds that influence neuronal migration. The kit is intended for in vitro research use in laboratory settings and supports studies of human neuronal development, brain injury response, and related disorders such as lissencephaly and subcortical band heterotopia, in which DCX mutations have been implicated.
