Loss-of-function mutations in the responsible gene cause the rare autosomal-recessive immunodeficiency-centromeric instability-facial anomalies (ICF) syndrome, while elevated DNMT3B levels and the resulting hypermethylation signatures are recurrent findings in colorectal, breast, lung, and hematologic cancers.
