DMT1 (also called SLC11A2 or NRAMP2) is the major proton-coupled transporter responsible for cellular uptake of divalent iron and other transition metals in mammalian cells, and the Human Divalent Metal Transporter 1 (DMT1) ELISA Kit from Assay Genie delivers quantitative measurement of this protein in laboratory samples. The assay supports analysis of tissue homogenates and cell lysates from cultured cells, with a microplate layout that provides 96 assays per kit.

Each run uses an absorbance-based readout, requiring only a standard plate reader for data capture. Pre-coated wells, detection antibody, standards, and buffers are supplied, minimizing additional reagent preparation. The protocol accommodates lysates prepared from in vitro cell culture models commonly used in metal transport research, including Caco-2, HepG2, and neuronal lines.

Researchers investigating iron homeostasis, hereditary hemochromatosis, anemia of chronic disease, and neurodegeneration routinely measure DMT1 expression across intestinal, hepatic, neural, placental, and renal tissues, where the transporter plays documented physiological roles. The kit is for research use only and is not intended for clinical diagnostic procedures.

Reagents should be stored refrigerated between uses, with reconstituted components handled according to the supplied protocol to preserve activity through the shelf life of the kit.
