Dihydropyrimidine dehydrogenase is a key enzyme in pyrimidine base degradation, catalysing the reduction of uracil and thymine and also participating in the degradation of the chemotherapeutic drug 5-fluorouracil. The target is a homodimer localised to the cytoplasm (UniProt Q12882), and synonyms for the protein include dihydrothymine dehydrogenase, dihydrouracil dehydrogenase and DHPDHase. The assay shows specificity for natural and recombinant human DPYD.

Validated sample types include serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernatants and other biological fluids. The kit provides a detection range of 0.156-10ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.089ng/mL.
