Description

A high-quality enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kit from Assay Genie designed for the quantitative measurement of human Dihydrolipoyl dehydrogenase, mitochondrial (DLD) in research samples. DLD, also known as dihydrolipoamide dehydrogenase, is an essential enzyme involved in the mitochondrial tricarboxylic acid cycle and oxidative phosphorylation, and its dysregulation has been linked to metabolic disorders, neurodegenerative diseases, and cancer.

The kit is validated for use with human serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernatants, and other biological fluids, with specificity for natural and recombinant human Dihydrolipoyl dehydrogenase, mitochondrial. According to the manufacturer's specifications, the detection range is 0.78-50 ng/mL with a sensitivity of 0.45 ng/mL. Intra-assay CV is 8.4% and inter-assay CV is 11.1%. Recovery in serum averages 90% (range 84-96%) and in plasma averages 92% (range 86-98%). Linearity was assessed at dilution factors of 1:2, 1:4, 1:8, and 1:16 in serum, EDTA plasma, and heparin plasma samples.

DLD (UniProt P09622) functions as the E3 component of the pyruvate-, alpha-ketoglutarate-, and branched-chain alpha-keto acid dehydrogenase complexes, and is also a component of the glycine cleavage system. In monomeric form it has an additional moonlighting function as a serine protease and is involved in the hyperactivation of spermatozoa during capacitation and in the spermatozoal acrosome reaction. The kit is intended for research use only within the cell biology research area.
