DC-SIGN (also called CD209) is a type II transmembrane C-type lectin expressed on dendritic cells and macrophages, where it mediates adhesion to ICAM-3 on resting T cells and acts as a recognition receptor for several pathogens including HIV and Ebola virus. The Assay Genie Human DC-SIGN/CD209 PharmaGenie ELISA kit quantifies this lectin in human cell culture supernatant samples and in plasma-derived and serum-derived fractions, using a two-antibody binding format with a colorimetric endpoint and reagents supplied for 96 individual determinations.

The kit supports in vitro research into dendritic cell biology, mucosal HIV transmission, antigen capture by antigen-presenting cells, and chronic inflammatory conditions where DC-SIGN expression has been implicated, including rheumatoid arthritis and tuberculosis. Researchers studying pattern recognition receptor signalling, vaccine adjuvanticity, or immune cell migration can use the assay to correlate soluble CD209 levels with disease state, treatment response, or experimental stimulation in primary human cell cultures. All components are intended for research use only and should be stored refrigerated until first use according to the supplied package insert.
