PLA2G4A is a calcium-dependent phospholipase A2 that selectively hydrolyzes arachidonyl phospholipids in the sn-2 position, releasing arachidonic acid. It plays a key role in the regulation of inflammation and lipid metabolism, and its dysregulation has been linked to arthritis, cardiovascular diseases, and neuroinflammatory disorders, making it a valuable biomarker for study. Performance characteristics include a detection range of 31.2-2000pg/mL, a sensitivity of 12.4pg/mL, an intra-assay CV of 5.3%, and an inter-assay CV of 10.1%.

Linearity has been validated for serum, EDTA plasma, and heparin plasma at dilutions of 1:2, 1:4, 1:8, and 1:16. Recovery averages 101% (range 95-107%) for serum and 103% (range 97-109%) for plasma.
