Cystatin A is an intracellular cysteine protease inhibitor with well-documented roles in epidermal barrier maintenance and keratinocyte turnover, and dysregulation of this small stefin-family protein has been linked to psoriasis inflammation, squamous cell carcinoma progression, and several inflammatory skin disorders. This Assay Genie quantitative immunoassay is supplied as a complete 96-assay plate kit intended for research use only, enabling measurement of endogenous CSTA levels across human plasma fractions, serum fractions, and conditioned media from cultured cells.

Each kit contains a pre-coated microplate, calibrated protein standards, biotinylated detection antibody, streptavidin-HRP conjugate, concentrated wash buffer, assay diluent, chromogenic TMB substrate, and stop solution. The workflow follows a standard add-incubate-wash protocol in which captured CSTA is detected through an HRP-driven color development step, producing an absorbance signal proportional to antigen concentration that can be read on any standard microplate spectrophotometer. Unopened kits should be stored refrigerated and protected from light to preserve antibody binding activity and standard integrity throughout the stated shelf life.

The kit is configured for in vitro research applications such as biomarker screening in dermatology studies, characterization of protease-antiprotease balance in epithelial cell models, and comparative profiling of patient-derived plasma or serum samples. Researchers typically receive the assay ready to run, with all buffers and reagents sufficient to complete the full plate in a single experiment or to break the plate into smaller batches for longitudinal studies.
