Cystatin A is an intracellular thiol proteinase inhibitor that plays an important role in desmosome-mediated cell-cell adhesion in the lower layers of the epidermis. Linearity across dilutions (1:2, 1:4, 1:8, 1:16) is reported for serum at 95-105%, 109-117%, 104-112%, and 84-94%; for EDTA plasma at 114-124%, 107-117%, 104-114%, and 86-96%; and for heparin plasma at 91-100%, 90-100%, 93-103%, and 88-98%. Recovery is 97% (91-103%) for serum and 99% (93-105%) for plasma.
