Human Cyclin-dependent kinase 5 activator 1 (CDK5R1) ELISA Kit

This sandwich-format ELISA kit from Assay Genie enables quantitative measurement of human cyclin-dependent kinase 5 activator 1 (CDK5R1), also referred to as p35, CDK5R, NCK5A, TPKII regulatory subunit, and CDK5 activator 1. The assay is reactive with human samples and has been validated for serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates, and other biological fluids, with specificity for both natural and recombinant human CDK5R1. Detection is colorimetric.

Performance characteristics include a detection range of 78-5000pg/ml and a sensitivity of 31pg/mL. Reported precision is an intra-assay CV of 8.4% and an inter-assay CV of 11.1%. Linearity has been demonstrated across 1:2, 1:4, 1:8, and 1:16 dilutions in serum, EDTA plasma, and heparin plasma. Recovery has been measured in serum (average 107%, range 101-113%) and plasma (average 109%, range 103-115%).

CDK5R1 is a neuron-specific activator of CDK5. The p35/CDK5 complex is required for neurite outgrowth and cortical lamination and participates in circadian clock regulation by phosphorylating CLOCK at Thr-451 and Thr-461. Calpain cleavage of p35 to p25 relocalizes the complex to nuclear and perinuclear regions, and p25 accumulation in brain neurons has been linked to aberrant tau phosphorylation in Alzheimer's disease.
