Assay Genie's quantitative immunoassay for human cytochrome b reductase 1 supports research into dietary iron absorption and the regulation of intestinal ferric-to-ferrous iron reduction at the brush-border membrane of duodenal enterocytes. CYBRD1, also called duodenal cytochrome b, is the apical plasma-membrane reductase that donates electrons to dietary Fe3+ before transport into the epithelium by DMT1, placing it at a rate-limiting step in systemic iron homeostasis.

Investigators in iron metabolism, hereditary haemochromatosis, anaemia of chronic disease, and intestinal physiology apply the kit to blood-derived clinical samples and to translational dietary iron-loading or deficiency models.
