Description

Quantitative sandwich ELISA from Assay Genie for the measurement of human Cryptic protein (CFC1), also known as Cryptic family protein 1. The assay uses a colorimetric detection method and is intended for use with human samples including serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates, and other biological fluids. Specificity is reported for both natural and recombinant human Cryptic protein.

Performance data supplied with the kit include a detection range of 0.156-10 ng/mL, a sensitivity of 0.089 ng/mL, an intra-assay CV of 5.8%, and an inter-assay CV of 7.7%. Linearity for serum (n=5) is reported as 104-114% at 1:2, 109-119% at 1:4, 109-119% at 1:8 and 88-98% at 1:16. EDTA plasma (n=5) values are 104-116%, 100-110%, 84-92% and 88-98% across the same dilutions, and heparin plasma (n=5) values are 96-106%, 102-112%, 87-97% and 90-100%. Recovery averaged 104% for serum (range 98-110%) and 106% for plasma (range 100-112%).

According to the supplied UniProt annotation, CFC1 is a NODAL coreceptor involved in the correct establishment of the left-right axis, and may play a role in mesoderm and/or neural patterning during gastrulation. Defects in CFC1 are associated with visceral heterotaxy autosomal type 2 (HTX2), transposition of the great arteries dextro-looped type 2 (DTGA2), and conotruncal heart malformations. The protein is anchored to the cell membrane via a GPI lipid-anchor and may also be secreted. UniProt accession P0CG37. For research use only.
