Human Corticosteroid 11-beta-dehydrogenase isozyme 1 (HSD11B1) ELISA Kit

From Assay Genie, this Sandwich ELISA kit enables quantitative measurement of human Corticosteroid 11-beta-dehydrogenase isozyme 1 (HSD11B1) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. The colorimetric assay detects natural and recombinant human HSD11B1 with a detection range of 0.156-10 ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.078 ng/mL. Reported precision values are intra-assay CV of 4.2% and inter-assay CV of 7.5%. Recovery in serum averages 88% (range 82-94%) and in plasma 90% (range 84-96%).

HSD11B1 is a microsomal enzyme that catalyzes the reversible conversion of cortisol to the inactive metabolite cortisone, and also converts 7-ketocholesterol to 7-beta-hydroxycholesterol. The protein resides in the endoplasmic reticulum membrane as a homodimer and is the focus of cardiovascular and metabolic research, with dysregulation linked to obesity, diabetes, and hypertension.
