Human Collagenase 3 (MMP13) ELISA Kit

Manufactured by Assay Genie, this Sandwich ELISA Kit is intended for the quantitative measurement of human Collagenase 3 (MMP13), also referred to as matrix metalloproteinase-13. The assay is validated for use with human samples including serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids, with reactivity confirmed for human specimens. The kit uses colorimetric detection.

Performance characteristics reported by the manufacturer include a detection range of 0.156-10ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.039ng/mL, with an intra-assay CV of 4.8% and inter-assay CV of 9.6%. The assay is specific for natural and recombinant human Collagenase 3. Recovery in serum averages 100% (range 94-106%), and in plasma averages 102% (range 96-108%).

MMP13 is a zinc- and calcium-binding metalloendopeptidase involved in the degradation of extracellular matrix proteins including fibrillar collagen, fibronectin, TNC and ACAN. It cleaves triple helical collagens, with the highest activity against soluble type II collagen, and can also degrade collagen types IV, XIV and X. The enzyme has been associated with wound healing, tissue remodeling, cartilage degradation, bone development, bone mineralization and ossification, and may play a role in tumor cell invasion.
