Built around the fibrillar collagen encoded by the COL3A1 gene, this Assay Genie immunoassay enables quantitative measurement of the alpha-1(III) chain in human research samples. The target protein, catalogued under UniProt accession P02461 and also known as COL3-A1 or EDS4A, assembles into the reticular fiber network of skin, vascular walls, hepatic stroma, lung interstitium, and other mechanically stressed tissues, making reliable quantification central to studies of wound healing, keloid formation, hepatic and pulmonary fibrosis, and inherited connective tissue disorders including vascular Ehlers-Danlos syndrome.

Each kit ships with a 96-assay microplate pre-coated with anti-human COL3A1 capture antibody, a biotinylated detection reagent, streptavidin-HRP conjugate, lyophilized standard, and the full TMB substrate and buffer set required for a colorimetric readout. Components are formulated to remain stable across the 12-month shelf life when stored refrigerated between runs and protected from light to preserve HRP activity.

Validated for serum and tissue homogenate inputs; plasma prepared from EDTA- or heparin-anticoagulated whole blood is also supported, allowing investigators to move between cell culture supernatants, animal-model tissue lysates, and clinical specimens without re-optimization. Reconstitute the lyophilized standard shortly before each run, aliquot working solutions to limit freeze-thaw cycles, and follow the kit insert for the assay workflow, calibration curve construction, and inter-plate control handling. For research use only, not for diagnostic procedures.
