The kit shows reactivity with human samples and is specific for both natural and recombinant human Collagen alpha-1(XXVII) chain, with a reported detection range of 7.8-500ng/mL and a sensitivity of 3.8ng/mL.

Reported precision is an intra-assay CV of 5.6% and an inter-assay CV of 9.6%. Linearity has been tested in serum (109-120%, 108-118%, 97-106%, 93-102% at 1:2, 1:4, 1:8, 1:16), EDTA plasma (95-108%, 115-125%, 82-91%, 106-115%) and heparin plasma (95-105%, 102-111%, 102-114%, 88-98%). Recovery averages 100% in serum (range 94-106%) and 102% in plasma (range 96-108%). COL27A1 is a member of the fibrillar collagen family that plays a role during the calcification of cartilage and the transition of cartilage to bone, and the protein is found secreted in the extracellular space and extracellular matrix, on some small banded collagen fibrils and meshworks.
