Quantitative measurement of human Contactin-1 (CNTN1) in biological research samples is supported by this 96-assay colorimetric ELISA kit from Assay Genie. Contactin-1 is a GPI-anchored neuronal membrane glycoprotein of the immunoglobulin superfamily, comprising six Ig-like domains and four fibronectin type III repeats, with a molecular mass of approximately 130 kDa. It is densely expressed in cerebellum, cerebral cortex, and hippocampus, where it organizes the paranodal junctions that flank nodes of Ranvier in myelinated axons. Autoantibodies (predominantly IgG4 subclass) targeting CNTN1 have been identified in a subset of patients with chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy, and altered CNTN1 expression has been observed in hepatocellular carcinoma and lung cancer tissue.
