CD99 is a 32 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein expressed on the surface of T-lymphocytes, thymocytes, eosinophils, and endothelial cells, where it mediates leukocyte transmigration, T-cell adhesion, and apoptosis. It is also widely studied as an immunohistochemical marker for distinguishing Ewing sarcoma from other small round blue cell tumors.
The Assay Genie Human CD99 ELISA Kit is a research-use-only assay for quantitative measurement of this marker in clinical and experimental samples. Investigators commonly use CD99 quantification to study inflammatory conditions, immune cell regulation, and tumor biology, including migration, differentiation, and apoptosis pathways.
The procedure typically involves adding standards and samples to a pre-coated microplate, followed by incubation with a biotinylated detection antibody and a streptavidin-HRP conjugate. The resulting enzyme-substrate reaction produces a measurable signal proportional to CD99 concentration in the sample.
Reagent vials should be refrigerated after receipt, and the standard stock should be frozen at -20 degrees C for long-term stability. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles of kit components to preserve assay performance.
