Quantitative immunology and hematology research on B-lymphocyte signaling is supported by Assay Genie's CD72 ELISA Kit, which enables measurement of CD72 protein in human specimens. CD72 is a 45 kDa type II transmembrane glycoprotein belonging to the C-type lectin superfamily, expressed across most stages of B-cell maturation from pro-B through mature B cells, with expression generally lost upon terminal plasma cell differentiation. The molecule functions as a negative regulator of B-cell receptor signaling through recruitment of SHP-1 phosphatase to its immunoreceptor tyrosine-based inhibitory motifs (ITIMs), and serves as a surface counter-receptor for CD5 on T cells and for CD100 (SEMA4D) on activated lymphocytes and stromal cells.

This quantitative kit is for research use only and supports studies into autoimmune disease mechanisms such as systemic lupus erythematosus, where altered CD72 expression has been documented, as well as B-cell malignancies including chronic lymphocytic leukemia and non-Hodgkin lymphoma, where CD72 serves as a lineage marker. Investigators studying immune tolerance, B-cell receptor signaling pathways, germinal center reactions, and B-T cell synaptic interactions can measure CD72 protein levels in cell lysates, tissue homogenates, and other biological samples prepared from human specimens.

Each kit contains pre-coated microplate wells, detection reagents, and standard diluents sufficient for 96 assays in a single-use microwell plate format. The absorbance-based protocol enables readout on standard plate readers, and the assay is configured for human specimens, making it a practical addition to immunophenotyping panels that combine soluble protein quantification with flow cytometry data. Reagents should be stored refrigerated to preserve binding activity; refer to the package insert for full stability information.
