CC16 (Club Cell Secretory Protein, also called Clara cell protein 16 or uteroglobin) is a 16 kDa secretoglobin produced by club cells lining the distal airways of the lung. Quantifying CC16 in research samples provides a non-invasive readout of bronchiolar epithelial integrity, and changes in circulating or epithelial lining fluid CC16 have been investigated as a biomarker in COPD, asthma, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, acute lung injury, and smoking-related airway damage. Because the protein is also filtered by the kidney, CC16 measurements appear in studies of renal handling of low-molecular-weight proteins.

The Assay Genie Human CC16 ELISA Kit is configured for in vitro research use and measures human CC16 across a panel of specimen types that includes lung lavage fluid, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, and cell culture supernatants. Researchers studying pulmonary toxicology, occupational exposures to dusts and fumes, neonatal respiratory outcomes, or systemic inflammatory disease have used this marker alongside other epithelial and inflammatory readouts. The kit is provided in a microplate format for batch processing of experimental and control samples, with storage at -20°C protecting the coated plate and reagents between runs. Each assay requires only a small sample volume per well, conserving precious lavage and biopsy specimens.
