Description

Produced by the placenta during pregnancy, the hormone chorionic somatomammotropin (CSH1) plays a crucial role in supporting fetal growth and development, as well as regulating maternal metabolism to meet the demands of pregnancy. Dysregulation of CSH1 levels has been implicated in conditions such as gestational diabetes and pre-eclampsia, highlighting its importance as a biomarker in reproductive health research.

This Sandwich ELISA kit from Assay Genie is designed for the precise measurement of human CSH1 in samples including serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates, and other biological fluids. The assay has a detection range of 0.312-20ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.12ng/mL, with reported precision values of 5.9% (Intra CV) and 8.3% (Inter CV). Linearity was evaluated across serum, EDTA plasma, and heparin plasma at multiple dilutions. Recovery averaged 96% for serum (range 90-102%) and 98% for plasma (range 92-104%).

Functionally, CSH1 is produced only during pregnancy and is involved in stimulating lactation, fetal growth, and metabolism. It does not interact with GHR but only activates PRLR through zinc-induced dimerization. The protein has a molecular weight of 25kDa and is encoded by the CSH1 gene on chromosome 17, with UniProt code P01243. Synonyms include Lactogen, Placental lactogen, PL, and Choriomammotropin. Mutations in this gene are associated with placental lactogen deficiency and Silver-Russell syndrome. The kit is for research use only and is supplied with an ELISA microplate, lyophilized standard, sample diluent, assay diluents, detection reagents, wash buffer, substrate, stop solution, and plate sealer.
