Human Cholinesterase (BCHE) ELISA Kit

Assay Genie provides a Sandwich ELISA Kit developed for the quantitative measurement of human Cholinesterase (BCHE). The assay uses a colourimetric ELISA detection method and is validated for use with human serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids.

The kit reports a detection range of 0.156–10 ng/mL with a sensitivity of 0.078 ng/mL. Intra-assay precision is given as 6.2% and inter-assay precision as 10.5%. Linearity has been assessed in serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma across dilutions of 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16. Recovery in serum averages 93% (range 87–99%), while plasma averages 95% (range 89–101%).

BCHE is described as an esterase with broad substrate specificity that contributes to the inactivation of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine and can degrade neurotoxic organophosphate esters. The reagent recognises natural and recombinant human cholinesterase, with the target listed under the synonyms Acylcholine acylhydrolase, Butyrylcholine esterase, Choline esterase II, Pseudocholinesterase and CHE1. The UniProt reference is P06276, the protein is a secreted homotetramer, and the kit is intended for research use only in the neurosciences field. Overall storage is listed at -20°C.
