CHCHD2 is a 16 kDa mitochondrial protein anchored in the intermembrane space, where it contributes to oxidative phosphorylation, mitochondrial DNA stability, and cellular responses to hypoxia. Heterozygous mutations in the CHCHD2 gene cause autosomal dominant Parkinson's disease (PARK22), and dysregulated expression has been reported in several cancer cell lines, including lung and breast tumour models, making quantitative ELISA profiling in clinical biospecimens relevant to neurodegeneration biomarker discovery and oncology studies.
