Description

CD59 is a cell surface glycoprotein that regulates complement-mediated cell lysis and is involved in T-cell signal transduction. By binding complement C8 and/or C9 during assembly of the membrane attack complex (MAC), it prevents incorporation of the multiple copies of C9 required for osmolytic pore formation. Abnormal CD59 levels have been linked to autoimmune disorders, blood disorders and neurodegenerative conditions, making accurate quantification valuable for research into the pathogenesis of these diseases.

This Sandwich ELISA from Assay Genie is designed for the quantitative determination of human CD59 glycoprotein levels. The colorimetric detection method is suitable for serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids, with specificity for natural and recombinant human CD59 glycoprotein. The kit is intended for research use only and supports work in the immunology research area.

Performance characteristics include a detection range of 31.2-2000pg/mL and a sensitivity of 10.7pg/mL. Intra-assay CV is reported at 7.9% and inter-assay CV at 10.3%. Spike-and-recovery testing showed an average of 101% (range 95-107%) for serum and 103% (range 97-109%) for plasma. Linearity has been demonstrated at dilutions of 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16 in serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma matrices. The kit is supplied with a dismountable ELISA microplate, lyophilised standard, sample and assay diluents, detection reagents, wash buffer, substrate and stop solution, with component-specific storage conditions.
