Built for quantitative measurement of soluble CD163 in human specimens, this Assay Genie immunoassay targets a hemoglobin-scavenger receptor that is widely used as a marker of macrophage activation in inflammation and related disease research. The kit is configured for 96 individual determinations with colorimetric readout on a standard microplate reader.

It is validated for cell culture supernatant as well as serum-type and plasma-type specimen matrices, covering the sample types most often used in studies of macrophage biology, sepsis, atherosclerosis, hepatic inflammation, and related conditions. Each kit is supplied as a complete reagent set in individual vials and a pre-coated microplate, so laboratories can run full standard curves alongside unknown samples.

The CD163 target is a 130 kDa type I transmembrane glycoprotein expressed predominantly on monocytes and tissue macrophages, where it mediates clearance of haptoglobin-bound hemoglobin and contributes to anti-inflammatory signaling. Because shedding of the ectodomain produces soluble CD163 detectable in plasma, measuring this analyte provides an indirect readout of systemic macrophage activity in research cohorts.

Intended for research use only, the kit supports biomarker discovery, longitudinal sample analysis, and comparative studies of patient cohorts in academic and translational research settings.
