Description

Assay Genie offers a sandwich ELISA designed for the quantitative detection of human CD109 antigen in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. The kit is intended for research use only and is particularly relevant to cancer research, where CD109 has been described as a cell surface antigen implicated in disease mechanisms and the development of targeted therapies.

Reported performance characteristics include a detection range of 0.312–20 ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.156 ng/mL. Intra-assay precision is 6.2% (CV) and inter-assay precision is 8.9% (CV). Linearity was evaluated at dilutions of 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16 in serum (N=5) at 106–116%, 91–101%, 93–102% and 102–113%, in EDTA plasma at 104–116%, 106–118%, 86–96% and 86–95%, and in heparin plasma at 88–98%, 101–111%, 100–109% and 87–97%. Recovery averaged 109% in serum (range 103–115%) and 111% in plasma (range 105–117%). The assay is specific for natural and recombinant human CD109 antigen.

CD109 is a glycosyl phosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored cell membrane glycoprotein that modulates negatively TGFB1 signalling in keratinocytes and belongs to the protease inhibitor I39 (alpha-2-macroglobulin) family. Readout is colorimetric, requiring a microplate reader set to 450 nm. Synonyms include 150 kDa TGF-beta-1-binding protein, C3 and PZP-like alpha-2-macroglobulin domain-containing protein 7, Platelet-specific Gov antigen, p180, r150 and CPAMD7.
