Caveolin-2 (CAV2) is a 21 kDa membrane-associated scaffolding protein that co-localizes with Caveolin-1 in caveolae—small flask-shaped invaginations of the plasma membrane that organize signaling complexes, regulate lipid homeostasis, and buffer mechanical stress. Aberrant CAV2 expression has been documented in prostate and breast carcinoma, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, diabetic vasculopathy, and chronic inflammatory states, making reliable quantitative measurement of the protein a recurring need in molecular pathology and cell biology workflows.
