CASP8 (cysteine-aspartic protease 8), also called FLICE or MCH5, is a primary initiator caspase in the extrinsic apoptosis pathway. The full-length zymogen (~55 kDa) is recruited to the death-inducing signaling complex (DISC) following activation of cell surface death receptors such as Fas/CD95, TRAIL-R, and TNFR1, where it undergoes autocatalytic cleavage to release ~18 kDa and ~10 kDa subunits that drive downstream effector caspase activation. This Caspase 8 ELISA Kit from Assay Genie uses a human-specific capture antibody in a quantitative immunoassay format, supporting research into apoptotic signaling, tumor cell resistance mechanisms, neurodegenerative disease models, and immune regulation studies.
