Description

Assay Genie provides a sandwich ELISA kit for the quantitative detection of human Caspase-6 (CASP6), a cysteine-aspartic acid protease that operates as a downstream enzyme in the caspase activation cascade responsible for executing programmed cell death. Caspase-6, also known as apoptotic protease Mch-2 and MCH2, is implicated in neurodegenerative disorders, cancer, and inflammatory conditions, making it a relevant target for apoptosis research. The assay is intended for use with human serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates, and other biological fluids.

According to the manufacturer's specifications, the kit has a detection range of 78-5000pg/mL and a sensitivity of 39.7pg/mL. Precision data report an intra-assay CV of 6.9% and an inter-assay CV of 10.5%. Linearity has been verified across serial dilutions (1:2, 1:4, 1:8, 1:16) in serum (107-117%, 89-97%, 95-106%, 107-117%), EDTA plasma (87-97%, 103-115%, 92-102%, 97-107%), and heparin plasma (108-117%, 91-101%, 107-117%, 107-107%). Mean recovery is 110% (range 104-116%) for serum and 112% (range 106-118%) for plasma. The assay is specific for natural and recombinant human Caspase-6.

For research use only, the kit supports studies in cancer and neurodegeneration. The Caspase-6 protein is a heterotetramer composed of two anti-parallel heterodimers, each formed by an 18 kDa (p18) and an 11 kDa (p11) subunit, with a total molecular weight of 33,310 Da. It localizes to the cytoplasm, interacts with BIRC6/bruce, and cleaves substrates including poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase and lamins.
