Human Caspase-12 (CASP12) ELISA Kit

From Assay Genie, this sandwich-format ELISA kit enables quantitative measurement of human Caspase-12 (CASP12) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. The assay uses a colorimetric detection method, is specific for natural and recombinant human Inactive caspase-12, and is intended for research use only within neuroscience research.

Performance specifications include a sensitivity of 0.12 ng/mL and a detection range of 0.312–20 ng/mL. Intra-assay CV is 3.8% and inter-assay CV is 8.7%. Reported linearity covers serum, EDTA plasma, and heparin plasma at dilutions of 1:2 to 1:16. Recovery averages 100% (range 94-106%) for serum and 102% (range 96-108%) for plasma.

Caspase-12 has no protease activity and may reduce cytokine release in response to bacterial lipopolysaccharide during infections, as well as reduce activation of NF-kappa-B in response to TNF. The protein is detected in heart, kidney, liver, lung, pancreas, small intestine, spleen, stomach, thymus and testis, belongs to the peptidase C14A family, and is encoded by the CASP12 gene at chromosomal location 11q22.3. Three human isoforms are produced by alternative splicing; UniProt accession Q6UXS9.
