Quantitative CEA measurement in human specimens is the focus of this Assay Genie immunoassay kit, which delivers a colorimetric readout across a 96-assay microplate. Carcinoembryonic Antigen, encoded by the CEACAM5 gene, is a GPI-anchored cell-surface glycoprotein routinely profiled in oncology research as a tumor marker, with serum levels investigated in studies of colorectal, pancreatic, lung, breast, and medullary thyroid carcinomas, alongside non-malignant conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease and heavy smoking.

Human specimens accepted by the protocol span serum matrices, plasma matrices, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, and cell culture supernatants, giving flexibility across clinical research, xenograft tissue work, and in vitro cancer cell line models. Each kit contains a pre-coated microplate, lyophilised reference standards, biotinylated detection antibody, streptavidin-HRP conjugate, wash buffer, substrate solution, and stop reagent sufficient for generating a standard curve and interpolating unknown CEA concentrations.

For handling, unopened components should be stored at refrigerated temperature and protected from light; reconstituted standards and diluted samples are aliquoted to limit freeze-thaw cycles. The kit is configured for in vitro research use only and is not approved for diagnostic procedures or clinical use in patients.
