Human Carboxypeptidase A2, Pancreatic (CPA2) ELISA Kit

This quantitative immunoassay from Assay Genie enables measurement of human Carboxypeptidase A2 (CPA2), a zinc-dependent pancreatic metallocarboxypeptidase that is synthesized by pancreatic acinar cells as the inactive zymogen procarboxypeptidase A2 and converted to its active form by trypsin cleavage during intestinal protein digestion. Once activated, CPA2 preferentially liberates C-terminal amino acids bearing aromatic or large aliphatic side chains, complementing the action of chymotrypsin and elastase in the duodenum. CPA2 has drawn research interest as a candidate biomarker in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, where altered expression has been observed in tumor tissue compared with healthy controls, and rare coding variants in the CPA2 gene have been linked to early-onset hereditary chronic pancreatitis.
