Human Calsequestrin-1 (CASQ1) ELISA Kit

Assay Genie supplies a sandwich ELISA kit for the quantitative measurement of human Calsequestrin-1 (CASQ1) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. The assay recognises natural and recombinant human Calsequestrin-1, also known by the synonyms Calmitine, Calsequestrin (skeletal muscle isoform) and CASQ. Detection is performed by a colorimetric readout.

Reported performance characteristics include a detection range of 78-5000pg/mL and a sensitivity of 39pg/mL. Intra-assay CV is 7.0% and inter-assay CV is 10.6%. Linearity has been demonstrated in serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma at dilution factors of 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16, with mean recoveries across these dilutions falling between 91% and 123% depending on the sample matrix. Spike-and-recovery testing gave an average of 94% (range 88-100%) in serum and 96% (range 90-102%) in plasma.

Calsequestrin is a high-capacity, moderate-affinity calcium-binding protein that acts as an internal calcium store in muscle. It can bind around 80 Ca(2+) ions and regulates the release of lumenal Ca(2+) via the calcium release channel RYR1, a process important in triggering muscle contraction. The kit is associated with UniProt entry P31415 and is intended for use in signal transduction research. The product is shipped at +4°C and stored at -20°C.
