Human Caldesmon (CALD1) ELISA Kit

From Assay Genie, this Sandwich ELISA Kit is intended for the quantitative measurement of human Caldesmon (CALD1) in human samples, including serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. The assay uses a colorimetric detection method and is supplied for research use only.

Reported performance characteristics include a detection range of 31.2–2000 pg/mL and a sensitivity of 10 pg/mL. Precision values are given as an intra-assay CV of 5.7% and an inter-assay CV of 10.2%. Linearity has been evaluated in serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma across dilution factors of 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16. Recovery in serum averages 104% (range 98–110%) and in plasma averages 106% (range 100–112%).

Caldesmon is an actin- and myosin-binding protein implicated in the regulation of actomyosin interactions in smooth muscle and nonmuscle cells, where it may act as a bridge between myosin and actin filaments. It stimulates the actin binding of tropomyosin, increasing stabilisation of actin filament structure, and in muscle tissues inhibits actomyosin ATPase by binding to F-actin.
