Human Caldesmon (CALD) ELISA Kit

A quantitative immunoassay from Assay Genie, the Human Caldesmon (CALD) ELISA Kit enables measurement of caldesmon, an actin- and myosin-binding regulatory protein expressed in smooth muscle and non-muscle cells. Caldesmon exists as two isoforms: a high-molecular-weight form concentrated in differentiated smooth muscle cells, where it modulates actomyosin ATPase activity and stabilizes contractile filaments, and a low-molecular-weight form broadly distributed in non-muscle cells, contributing to cytoskeletal remodeling, cell migration, and shape change. Tracking caldesmon levels supports research into vascular smooth muscle phenotype switching, leiomyoma and leiomyosarcoma characterization, wound healing, and tumor invasion mechanisms.

The assay accepts tissue homogenates and cell lysates from human samples and uses a colorimetric endpoint, providing reagents for 96 assays per microplate. Each kit is intended for research use only and serves investigations in cardiovascular biology, oncology biomarker development, and cytoskeletal regulation where monitoring smooth muscle contractile protein expression is informative.
