Aralar2 is a mitochondrial inner membrane protein that catalyzes the calcium-dependent exchange of cytoplasmic glutamate with mitochondrial aspartate across the inner mitochondrial membrane, with a possible role in the urea cycle. The assay is reactive with human samples and accepts serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates, and other biological fluids.
