Human Calcitonin ELISA Kit

From Assay Genie, this Sandwich ELISA kit uses a colorimetric detection method and is designed for the quantitative measurement of calcitonin in human samples. Validated sample types include serum, plasma, cell culture supernatant, cell or tissue lysate, and other liquid samples.

The assay has a sensitivity of 9.375 pg/mL and a working range of 15.625–1000 pg/mL. Kit components should be stored at 2–8°C, where they remain stable for up to 12 months. Calcitonin, also referred to as CT or thyrocalcitonin, is a peptide hormone involved in calcium homeostasis and bone metabolism. Variations in circulating calcitonin have been linked to conditions such as osteoporosis, hypercalcemia, and certain cancers, making it a valuable research biomarker.

The procedure follows a double-antibody sandwich format: standards and samples are incubated on the pre-coated plate, followed by a biotin-labelled detection antibody and HRP-Streptavidin. Signal is generated with TMB substrate, the reaction is stopped, and absorbance is read at 450 nm.
