Human Calcitonin (CT) ELISA Kit

From Assay Genie, this Sandwich ELISA is designed for the quantitative detection of human Calcitonin (CT) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids, using a colorimetric detection method. The kit targets calcitonin, a 32-amino acid linear polypeptide hormone produced in humans primarily by the parafollicular cells (C-cells) of the thyroid, which acts to reduce blood calcium (Ca²⁺), opposing the effects of parathyroid hormone (PTH). Calcitonin is recognised as an important biomarker for conditions such as osteoporosis and hypercalcemia, supporting research into bone metabolism, calcium regulation and various endocrine disorders.

Performance specifications include a detection range of 12.5–800 pg/mL and a sensitivity of 4.5 pg/mL. Intra-assay precision (Intra CV) is 6.4% and inter-assay precision (Inter CV) is 11.1%. Linearity values for serum (N=5) are 88–100% at 1:2, 103–115% at 1:4, 108–116% at 1:8 and 97–108% at 1:16; for EDTA plasma (N=5) 94–103%, 89–99%, 83–93% and 109–120% respectively; and for heparin plasma (N=5) 107–115%, 86–97%, 104–114% and 92–101%. Recovery averages 111% (range 105–117%) in serum and 113% (range 107–119%) in plasma. Specificity is reported for natural and recombinant human Calcitonin (Uniprot P01258), with a listed research area of Signal Transduction.
