Human C5b/Complement Fragment 5b ELISA Kit

Manufactured by Assay Genie, this Sandwich ELISA (Double Antibody) is designed for the quantitative detection of C5b/Complement Fragment 5b in human samples, including serum, plasma, cell culture supernatant, cell or tissue lysate, and other liquid samples. The colorimetric assay is read at 450 nm and is intended for cardiovascular research and the study of immune and inflammatory processes.

Reported performance characteristics include a sensitivity of 0.469 ng/mL and a measuring range of 0.781-50 ng/mL. Linearity in serum (n = 5) at 1:2, 1:4 and 1:8 dilutions was 90-101%, 83-95% and 84-100%; in EDTA plasma (n = 5) 89-98%, 82-97% and 84-92%; and in heparin plasma (n = 5) 87-105%, 82-99% and 85-100%. Spike-and-recovery averages were 92% for serum, 97% for EDTA plasma and 96% for heparin plasma. Unopened kit components are stored at 2-8°C for 12 months.

The protocol includes a 90-minute primary incubation at 37°C, a 60-minute biotin-labelled detection antibody step, a 30-minute HRP-Streptavidin incubation, TMB development in the dark for 10-20 minutes and a stop reaction. C5b is a component of the complement system, and elevated levels have been associated with inflammatory conditions, autoimmune diseases and infections.
