Description

From Assay Genie, this ELISA kit is designed for the quantitative detection of human C-type natriuretic peptide (NPPC), a secreted hormone of the natriuretic peptide family that plays a role in endochondral ossification through regulation of cartilaginous growth plate chondrocyte proliferation and differentiation and may also be vasoactive and natriuretic. The kit is specific for natural and recombinant human C-type natriuretic peptide and is supplied for research use only.

Validated for use with human samples including serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids, the kit provides a detection range of 7.8-500pg/mL with a stated sensitivity of 3.9pg/mL. Reported precision values include an intra-assay CV of 4.2% and an inter-assay CV of 7.9%. Recovery is documented at an average of 98% for serum (range 92-104%) and 100% for plasma (range 94-106%), with linearity evaluated across serial dilutions of serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma. The protein specifically binds and stimulates cGMP production of the NPR2 receptor and also binds the clearance receptor NPR3. Research areas indicated for this product include Neurosciences.

NPPC is mapped to chromosomal location 2q37.1 and encodes the C-type natriuretic peptide precursor (UniProt: P23582; NCBI Gene ID: 4880; molecular weight 13,246 Da), which is proteolytically processed to generate the cardiac natriuretic peptides CNP-53, CNP-29 and CNP-22. The encoded peptides have been associated with vasorelaxation activity and elevated CNP-22 levels have been observed in the plasma of chronic heart failure patients.
