C-Peptide is a 31-amino acid connecting peptide released during the enzymatic cleavage of proinsulin into mature insulin inside pancreatic beta cells. Because it is co-secreted in equimolar amounts with insulin but cleared at a slower, more stable rate, measuring C-Peptide provides a reliable surrogate marker of endogenous insulin production and residual beta-cell function.

This microplate-based assay from Assay Genie is configured for quantitative measurement in human serum samples, plasma samples, and cell culture supernatant samples, requiring 50 µL of sample per well when run in duplicate. Investigators working in diabetes research, islet transplantation monitoring, insulinoma characterization, sulfonylurea pharmacodynamics, and metabolic syndrome studies use the kit to evaluate insulin secretory capacity independently of any exogenous insulin the subject may be receiving.

On receipt, store the kit refrigerated and protect from light. Before running the procedure, equilibrate all reagents to room temperature and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles of the reconstituted standards to preserve binding activity. The well plate format provides sufficient wells for standard curves, quality controls, and up to 40 unknown samples run in duplicate.
