CCR5 is a 7-transmembrane G-protein coupled receptor that responds to inflammatory C-C type chemokines and acts, together with CD4, as a coreceptor for HIV-1 R5 isolates, and is implicated in HIV infection, autoimmune disease and certain cancers.

Validated for serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids, with specificity for natural and recombinant human CCR5. Quoted performance values include a detection range of 0.312-20ng/mL, a sensitivity of 0.12ng/mL, an intra-assay CV of 5.2% and an inter-assay CV of 9.8%. Recovery averages 97% (91-103%) in serum and 99% (93-105%) in plasma. The receptor is a multi-pass membrane protein located at the cell membrane, and the kit is intended for research use only.
