Betacellulin (bTC) is a member of the EGF family of growth factors that signals through the ErbB receptor tyrosine kinases, particularly EGFR (ErbB1) and ErbB4. This Assay Genie sandwich ELISA kit provides quantitative measurement of human bTC in serum, plasma, and other biological fluids using a colorimetric detection method on a 96-well microplate. The assay supports research into pancreatic islet biology, where betacellulin was originally identified for its role in promoting beta-cell proliferation and differentiation, as well as studies in EGFR-driven oncology, epithelial regeneration, wound healing models, and neurotrophic signaling.

Reagents should be stored refrigerated at 2-8 °C and protected from light; kit components remain stable through the stated shelf life when handled as recommended. Researchers typically dispense 100 µL of sample and standard per well, with the chromogenic substrate producing an absorbance signal measurable at 450 nm. The dynamic range allows detection of both low-abundance physiological concentrations and elevated levels seen in disease-state samples. Repeated freeze-thaw cycles of specimens should be avoided to preserve analyte integrity before the run.
