The Assay Genie Human BSND (Barttin) ELISA Kit enables quantitative measurement of Barttin protein in human samples, supporting research into renal chloride transport and hereditary sensorineural deafness. Barttin functions as an essential β-subunit of CLC-K chloride channels (ClC-Ka and ClC-Kb) localized to the basolateral membrane of renal tubules and the stria vascularis of the inner ear, where it is required for proper channel trafficking and gating. Loss-of-function mutations in the BSND gene cause Bartter syndrome type IV (infantile Bartter syndrome with sensorineural deafness), making this assay a useful tool for studies of channelopathy, tubulopathy, and auditory biology. The full-length Barttin protein (320 amino acids, approximately 35 kDa) serves as the immunogen target.
