The Assay Genie Human Brevican PharmaGenie ELISA Kit enables quantitative measurement of brevican (BCAN), a brain-specific chondroitin sulfate proteoglycan of the lectican family that contributes to perineuronal net architecture and is implicated in glioma invasion, traumatic brain injury, and CNS extracellular matrix remodeling studies. The microplate format uses a pre-coated capture antibody specific for human brevican, with 100 µL of cell culture supernatant, plasma, or serum sample loaded per well. Reconstituted standards and detection antibody vials should be stored at -20°C in single-use aliquots to limit freeze-thaw cycles, while unused well strips remain sealed in the foil pouch with desiccant. The assay is calibrated with purified recombinant human brevican standards and is supplied for in vitro research use only in neurobiology, biomarker discovery, and glioma cell migration studies.
