Human Bone marrow proteoglycan (PRG2) ELISA Kit

From Assay Genie, this sandwich ELISA kit is designed for the quantitative measurement of human bone marrow proteoglycan (PRG2) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. The assay detects both natural and recombinant human bone marrow proteoglycan, with a detection range of 0.312-20 ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.1 ng/mL. Reported intra-assay precision is 5.2% CV and inter-assay precision is 10.3% CV.

PRG2 (UniProt P13727), also referred to as Proteoglycan 2, BMPG, or MBP, is the predominant constituent of the crystalline core of the eosinophil granule, with a molecular weight of approximately 25 kDa. The protein functions as a cytotoxin and helminthotoxin, induces non-cytolytic histamine release from human basophils, and contributes to antiparasitic defence and immune hypersensitivity reactions. The proform additionally acts as a proteinase inhibitor, reducing the activity of PAPPA. In pregnancy serum, the proform exists as a disulfide-linked 2:2 heterotetramer with PAPPA, as a 2:2 heterotetramer with AGT, and as a 2:2:2 heterohexamer with AGT and C3dg. The proform is secreted, while the mature protein localises to the matrix of the eosinophil's large specific granule (crystalloid core). The kit is intended for research use only within the immunology research area.
