Description

Manufactured by Assay Genie, this Sandwich ELISA Kit is intended for the quantitative detection of human Bone Morphogenetic Protein 4 (BMP-4), also referenced by the synonyms BMP-2B and BMP2B. The assay targets natural and recombinant human BMP-4, a disulfide-linked homodimer of the TGF-beta family, and uses a colorimetric detection method. Research areas include cancer, with BMP-4 recognised for inducing cartilage and bone formation and acting in mesoderm induction, tooth development, limb formation and fracture repair. The product is for research use only.

Manufacturer-supplied performance characteristics include a detection range of 31.2–2000 pg/mL and a sensitivity of 15.6 pg/mL. Reproducibility is reported as an intra-assay CV of 5.2% and an inter-assay CV of 9.3%. Linearity has been evaluated in serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma (N=5) at dilutions of 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16, with reported ranges of 90–122% in serum, 82–106% in EDTA plasma and 89–105% in heparin plasma across these dilutions. Recovery testing gives an average of 103% (range 97–109%) for serum and 105% (range 99–111%) for plasma.

The kit is validated for human samples and accepts serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. Reagents are supplied with component-specific storage instructions, predominantly −20°C with wash buffer, substrate and stop solution stored at 4°C, and absorbance is read on a microplate reader set to 450 nm. The target protein has a reported molecular weight of 47 kDa (UniProt P12644).
