beta-Melanocyte Stimulating Hormone (beta-MSH) is a 22-amino acid peptide derived from proopiomelanocortin (POMC) cleavage, primarily involved in melanocyte activation, pigmentation regulation, appetite modulation, and adrenal steroidogenesis. This Sandwich ELISA Kit from Assay Genie uses two epitope-specific antibodies to capture and detect beta-MSH in serum, plasma, and other biological fluids with strong specificity, minimizing cross-reactivity to related POMC-derived peptides such as alpha-MSH, ACTH, and gamma-MSH.

The assay is performed on a pre-coated 96-well microplate and produces a colorimetric signal proportional to analyte concentration, quantifiable with a standard microplate reader at 450 nm. Reconstituted standards and detection reagents should be refrigerated at 4 degrees C for short-term use or kept frozen at -20 degrees C for long-term stability; unused strip wells are returned to the sealed foil pouch with desiccant to protect from moisture.

Typical intra-assay and inter-assay precision are reported below 10% CV, and the working assay range commonly spans roughly 12.5 to 800 pg/mL depending on standard curve preparation. The kit is intended for research use only, supporting investigations in endocrinology, obesity research, pigmentary disorders, adrenal function studies, and neurodegenerative disease biomarker discovery. Each kit contains sufficient reagents for one 96-well plate and is shipped refrigerated to preserve antibody activity.
